Jean-Jacques
Mantello is
one of France's digital video pioneers. He directed the first underwater
3D movie ever made, Miracle Mermaid, in 1990. This movie
received the 1992 Palme d'Or du Public (Gold Award) at the 25th
World Festival of Underwater Pictures (Festival Mondial de l'Image
Sous-marine) in Antibes, France. Since
1986 Mantello has headed more than 30 3D projects worldwide, among
others Tales from Atlantis.
An
expert diver, Mantello directed the movie Ocean wonderland 3D
not only on “dry grounds” but also underwater. Mantello's new movie
Sharks 3D
was released in December 2004. It is a documentary that aims to
rehabilitate the public image of sharks and put an end to the steady
decline of the global sharks population.
